Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows feels like a delightfully wicked combination of what’s best about The Outsiders + Oceans 11 + The Last Airbender. But that still doesn’t really do justice to the amazing story, characters, and world Bardugo has created here.
A synopsis:
A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.
Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction―if they don’t kill each other first.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo returns to the breathtaking world of the Grishaverse in this unforgettable tale about the opportunity―and the adventure―of a lifetime.
Bardugo’s writing is tight, the pace is excellent, and any other author who wants to write from multiple character perspectives should study this to see how it’s done right.
I loved not knowing what was going to happen next, loved taking the ride with this merry band of mischief makers.
I worried after reading Holly Black’s The Wicked King about what I could possibly find to match the brilliance of that book. Six of Crows was a pretty good choice.
